Zineb trabalha em um asilo psiquiátrico. Seu superior lhe confia Rihana, uma jovem menina aterrorizada que pensa estar grávida. A missão de Zineb consiste em fazê-la falar. Rihana não coopera, acreditando que foi engravidada por Zayd, um jovem homem de sua cidade. Para ela, isso é fruto da obra do Senhor Cheval, um espírito venerado por seu pai. Zineb não sabe se a menina mente, diz a verdade ou refugia-se em um mundo imaginário e fantástico. Ela aos poucos perde o controle da situação e a história ganha outros rumos...

Zineb is an emotionally exhausted psychiatrist assigned to Rihana, a traumatized and pregnant young woman found in the street muttering unintelligibly about “The Lord of the Horse.” A flashback sequence returns us to Rihana’s childhood, where her dictatorial father, horseman chief of his tribe, raises her as the son his legacy demands. Trapped in parental delusions, Rihana falls in love with a young man with whom she carves out the beginnings of her own life. Soon, Rihana’s story awakens repressed thoughts in Zineb’s own troubled mind, and reality merges into a haunted fever-dream of fear and denial in this visually striking, award-winning psychological thriller.

Um retrato profundamente pessoal de sua família marroquina do diretor, usando imagens recolhidas ao longo dos últimos dez anos, em reuniões familiares, tendo nas mais íntimas, momentos importantes em suas vidas. Em diferentes capítulos, combina imagens, filmes e conversas, que vão desde os mais antigos até os mais jovens membros de sua família. Este é um ambiente aconchegante, diário poético da vida familiar, generosamente compartilhados por um diretor que é, simultaneamente, dedicado a sua família e amigos e ao poder avassalador da imagem. 

A deeply personal portrait of the director’s moroccan family, using images put together during the last ten years in family reunions, holding in the most intimate ones importante moments of their lives. In different chapters, it combines images, movies and conversations that go from the youngest to the olders members of the family. This is a cozy enviroment, a poetic diary of family life, generously shared by a diretor that is, simultaneously, dedicated to his family, his friends and to the overwhelming power of image.
